Oku-oi Kojyo Station 奥大井湖上駅
This Oigawa Railway station is located in the middle of the Okuoii Rainbow Bridge spanning Sesso Lake. The cobalt blue of the lake surface will draw your gaze into its depths. Certified by the “Cool Japan Award 2019”.

Yume no Tsuribashi Suspension Bridge 夢のつり橋
This mountain suspension bridge is just a 30 minute walk from Sumatakyo Onsen district. It measures 90 meters long, stands 8 meters high, and is just wide enough to cross in single file, making for a thrilling passage. The blue green surface of the lake and the legend that it brings good luck for romance have made it a popular attraction.

Nakakawane Mitsuboshi Astronomical Observatory なかかわね三ツ星天文台
This observatory is built on a mountain in Kawanehoncho, which has been selected as the “2nd clearest starry sky in all of Japan”. A stargazing event is held every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday on clear nights. Enjoy the starry sky with an astronomical telescope and outdoors.

An estimated 30,000 pine trees stretch for about 5 kilometers (3 miles) along the coast of the Miho Peninsula. This area is depicted in ukiyo-e art as a scenic spot with a view of Mt. Fuji beyond Suruga Bay and the famous pine tree grove. It is one of the constituents of the Fujisan World Heritage Site.

Mt. Fuji Shimizu Port Cruise 富士山清水みなとクルーズ
This bay cruise follows a leisurely route from Shimizu Port. Views of Mt. Fuji and Miho-no-Matsubara from the sea have a whole different charm than views from on land. From November to March, seagulls sometimes fly alongside the boat.

This hill has a height of 307 meter and a beautiful view of Mt. Fuji in the background of Suruga Bay, tea fields, Miho-no-Matsubara. In April and May, you can enjoy the lovely combination of fresh green tea fields and the snow-capped peak of Mt. Fuji. It offers an especially romantic view at dusk and at night.

Kunozan Toshogu Shrine 久能山東照宮
Kunozan Toshogu Shrine was founded according to the will of Tokugawa Ieyasu, a famous warlord at the end the Age of Warring States (early 1600s). The shrine has been designated as a national treasure, and it offers stunningly beautiful sights, including finely detailed sculptures, paintings, and lacquer work in vivid colors. Take your time to soak it all in.

tea culture at Gyokuro 玉露の里
Gyokuro no Sato is located in Okabe-cho, Fujieda City, which is considered to be one of Japan’s top three production regions of high-quality gyokuro green tea. The gyokuro tea and Japanese sweets served in the Japanese-style tea room are especially popular. The facility also has a restaurant that serves Japanese cuisine and souvenir shops.

Specialty Products & Gourmet Foods
Oden is Shizuoka citizen soul food, with rich, savory, black broth and ingredients on skewers. Try the kuro hanpen (meat or fish paste molded into triangles, squares, or circles) is made with minced blueback fish such as sardines.
Shimizu Port in Shizuoka City boasts the largest catch of tuna landed in Japan. There is a market, fishery cooperative, and many restaurants run by wholesalers, and the port is popular for its fresh and affordable fish unique to directly managed stores.
Shizuoka Prefecture is the center of the Japanese tea industry, accounting for nearly 40% of the total cultivation area and production volume. Tea with different characteristics is cultivated in various types of ground, mainly in the Midwestern part of the prefecture.
