Take a tour of the Unagi Pie Factory うなぎパイファクトリー
Unagi Pie is a famous confectionery treat from Hamamatsu, made with eel powder and garlic as its “secret” ingredients. Take a tour of the factory that produces about 200,000 Unagi Pies per day, and enjoy items on the café menu that you cannot eat anywhere else. There are also souvenirs for sale at the gift shop.

Hamamatsu Flower Park はままつフラワーパーク
Inside the vast garden with an area of about 300,000 m2, there are over 3,000 kinds of flowers, and you can enjoy vivid scenery that changes with the seasons. See red spider lilies in the fall, cherry blossoms, tulips and wisterias in the spring, and hydrangea in early summer.

Ryotanji Temple 龍潭寺
This historic temple has ties to Ii Naotora, the main character of the NHK historical drama “Naotora: The Lady Warlord” which was broadcast throughout 2017. Its Japanese garden reflects nature in each of the four seasons and is known as “the most exquisite garden in the Tokai region”.

Specialty Products & Gourmet Foods

Greenhouse Melons
Greenhouse melons are mainly cultivated in the western part of the prefecture and Shizuoka boasts the highest yield in Japan. The mellow aroma, high sugar content, and beautiful mesh pattern on the peel are very highly regarded, and Shizuoka melons are considered to be nearly synonymous with luxury fruits.

Unagi (Freshwater Eel)
Lake Hamana was home to the first freshwater eel culture farm built in Japan, and the eel industry is still thriving today. There are many long-established eel specialty restaurants, some of which have been in business for over 100 years.

Hamamatsu Gyoza
Hamamatsu gyoza is famous nationwide as a specialty of Hamamatsu. The standard stuffing is a handful of cabbage and pork, and it has a light taste. It is also distinctive for being served with boiled bean sprouts.
